Consumer (Private) Power Pole Replacement

If your property has its own power pole, it’s your responsibility to keep it safe. Daly & Co Electrical replaces old consumer (private) power poles and upgrades them to steel poles or underground supply for properties across the Perth hills and south-east.

What is a consumer power pole?

A consumer or private power pole is a pole on your property that carries the overhead supply from the street or Western Power’s network to your home or sheds. Unlike network poles, private poles are owned and maintained by the property owner.

Signs your pole needs replacing

  • Rot, termite damage or cracking at or near ground level
  • The pole is leaning or moving in the wind
  • Rusted or damaged fittings and brackets
  • Sagging or damaged overhead cables
  • A timber pole that has never been inspected

Your replacement options

  • Replace the timber pole with a new steel pole
  • Convert to underground supply, removing the pole and overhead cables altogether
  • Upgrade consumer mains and the switchboard at the same time

Why it matters

A failed private pole can bring live cables down, cause a fire and leave you without power. In bushfire-prone hills areas, keeping private poles and overhead cables in good condition is especially important. We handle the work and coordinate any disconnections needed with Western Power.

Servicing homes near you

We replace private power poles in Roleystone, Karragullen, Bedfordale, Oakford, Darling Downs and other semi-rural areas.

Frequently asked questions

Who is responsible for a private power pole?

The property owner is responsible for maintaining poles and overhead cables on their side of the network connection point.

Is going underground better than a new pole?

Underground supply removes the pole and overhead cables altogether, so it needs less maintenance and reduces fire risk. We’ll compare both options when we quote.

How often should a private pole be inspected?

Timber poles should be checked regularly, especially at ground level, and any damage acted on quickly.

All our electrical work is carried out by a licensed electrical contractor (EC 15388) and comes with a 3 year warranty.
